Work with me
If you are worried that your child isn’t quite thriving, I can help you to figure out what’s wrong and get you and your child on the path to total wellness.
Whether you are concerned about behavior problems, difficulties in school, chronic illness or frequent infections, suspected food sensitivities, sleep issues, or parenting concerns, I CAN HELP.
Or maybe you are a new or expectant momma who wants to give your little one the very best possible start in life by learning how best to encourage and support your child’s physical and emotional development, to nurture his or her body and spirit, hoping to prevent problems from developing in the first place? I CAN HELP WITH THAT, TOO.
I work with parents (and children, too) in one of three ways:
Regardless of which method you choose, when you work with me you will get the devoted and dedicated help of a determined problem solver with a tool-kit unlike anyone else. I am in the rather unique position of being a trained medical doctor AND an experienced early childhood teacher AND a certified parent coach AND a holistic nutrition expert with extensive studies in mindfulness, mind-body medicine, yoga and meditation, and all sorts of alternative healing modalities.
I work with parents and children of all ages, but I have particular expertise with young children between the ages of 0-12. Parents come to me with all types of concerns, including school difficulties, behavior problems at home, recurrent infections, chronic illnesses, skin problems, allergies, digestive issues, food sensitivities, anxiety and struggles with self-esteem or self-image.
Some of the topics that I have helped parents with include:
- Understanding (and managing) your child’s unique temperament
- Understanding your child’s emotional needs; what is emotion coaching, how do you do it, and why do you need to?
- Introduction to positive parenting (or, “how to raise lovely, well-behaved little people without yelling, losing your mind, or crushing their spirits”)
- Encouraging a growth mindset, developing creativity, increasing resilience
- Dealing with “problem behaviour” and addressing concerns such as anxiety, perfectionism, low self-esteem
- Developing / fostering empathy and kindness (bullying prevention, bully-proofing)
- Instruction / guidance on how diet can affect both health and behavior, what foods to watch out for
- Investigating possible hidden food sensitivities, elimination diets (how-to and interpretation), and dietary recommendations
- Learning how toxins in certain foods and consumer products can lead to chronic illness, auto immune disease, and even alter DNA
- Importance of free-play, physical activity, limiting screen time, getting outside in nature (including ideas of what to do to encourage this)
