Is your child struggling instead of thriving? If so, I can help!
Maybe you are here because your child has been given a diagnosis or a label and you’re not sure about it, and your doctor’s plan to just put your child on a medication and be done with it doesn’t sit right with you.
Maybe you’ve been struggling with a particular issue at home or school.
Or maybe you’re worried that something is not quite right but you’re not sure how to figure it out or where to start: Should you change your child’s diet? Give him supplements? Send her to a therapist? Talk to his teacher? Discipline more? Discipline less? You’ve come across so much conflicting information.
You’ve read lots of books and talked to friends and family members, but the advice you get doesn’t always seem to fit your needs or your unique child. Maybe you’ve even mentioned your concerns to your pediatrician and/or your child’s teacher, but that just led to more confusion, more uncertainty, and more guilt. You worry that you’re doing something wrong, or you aren’t doing enough.
You want the best for your child, and deep down you know that you need help, but you wish that someone would just really listen to you, and really understand.
I hear you, mama, and I am here to help.
The 4 B’s program is a 3 month program that takes you through the necessary steps to:
- uncover what’s actually going on, what’s really behind your child’s physical, emotional, or behavioral “symptoms”;
- come up with a plan to address the dysfunction or imbalance and;
- implement the plan in a way that is workable for you, your child, your family, and your life.
How does it work?
Because every child is different and every client will come with different concerns and issues, I don’t have one single cookie-cutter approach to how I work with people. There is no one-size-fits-all advice here. My unique, comprehensive, whole-child approach is highly customized to each individual. But, in all cases, we start with a conversation, to assess where your child is now, what they are struggling with, and where they want to go.
I will ask you to fill out an initial, detailed questionnaire designed to give me an insight into where your child is now, what’s going on in all four areas of functioning, and what sort of issues may be contributing to current problems. I will meet with you, and, depending on the circumstances, I may ask to speak with others (teachers, other caregivers) to get more information.
If your child is old enough and is comfortable with the process, I will sometimes work directly with your child, either alone or with you.
From here, I will formulate a strategy which we will work on in 12 weekly, one hour sessions, either in person or via skype. After each session you will receive a detailed summary with action steps to take. In between our live sessions you will have unlimited email access to me to ask questions, get support, and share your successes. Along the way, you will be provided with all of the resources, support and accountability you need to make real breakthroughs that lead to lasting, positive change.
How are you going to help?
When you work with me, you will get the devoted and dedicated help of a determined problem solver with a tool-kit unlike anyone else. I am in the rather unique position of being a trained medical doctor AND an experienced early childhood teacher AND a certified parent coach AND a holistic nutrition expert with years of personal experience, education and training. In addition, I have extensive studies in mindfulness, mind-body medicine, yoga and meditation, and alternative medicine.
So yes, I know a lot of stuff, and a lot of different stuff, not normally found in a single person (doctors usually know about medicine whilst teachers know about education and therapists know about psychology, etc…). But who cares? What does this mean for you?
It means that when you work with me, you get the benefit of someone who looks at everything through multiple lenses, someone who is intensely curious, who looks for creative solutions beyond the obvious, and can spot issues that others mis or frame solutions that others aren’t aware of.
So, that’s pretty useful… but, working with me is about so much more than the knowledge I bring to the table. It’s also about having a super-dedicated, relentless problem-solver in your court. It’s about having a deeply empathetic listener to hold space for you as you work through struggles and to help you figure out what you really need. Its about having someone who treats everyone as a unique individual…
When you work with me, you will get my 100% devotion to giving you all the tools you need to enable your child to stop struggling and start thriving.
I will provide you with information when you need it (in the form that you want it and that is most valuable to you), tailored to your individual concerns and questions. With many years of experience as a pediatrician, early childhood educator, and parent coach, I have expert knowledge of child development, functioning and dysfunction across… I also have extensive training in holistic nutrition and numerous other holistic and complementary treatment modalities, and I am happy to help guide you in exploring these options. But in general, I use my expertise to help YOU figure out what YOU need to know, not to instruct, admonish or dictate. I operate from a place of empathy and understanding, not judgement. So leave the shame and mommy-guilt at the door, and take the first step towards truly helping your child to stop floundering, and start thriving.
Together, we’ll unpack your concerns and figure out what things are currently preventing your child from thriving, then we’ll come up with solutions that work for you, your child, and your family.
This is for you if:
you are tired of watching your child struggle and know in your heart that there has to be a better way.
you are open minded and willing to try new approaches.
you are willing to put in the work and realize that there is no magic wand that can make everything better for you child, overnight.
you are more interested in learning what is right with your child, and how to build on his or her strengths, than in focussing on what is wrong.
you care deeply about your child’s well-being, now and for the future, and are excited about the prospect of helping them to grow up happy and healthy, with all the inner tools they need to truly thrive.
On the other hand, this may not be right for you if:
- you simply want someone to put your kid on a pill and be done with it.
- you are the type of person who assigns blame (it’s all the child’s or the teacher’s or whomever’s fault) rather than takes responsibility (maybe there are some things I could do differently, too, if it will help…).
